Your support can mean my physical therapy-a chance for better future...

Kasia RockaMy name is Kasia and I have been a disabled person due to cerebral palsy (CP) since I was born (1981). Increased muscle tension (spasticities) in my legs and arms as well as considerable spinal curvature make it very difficult for me to perform even simple daily tasks. CP is not an illness itself but a group of symptoms denoting brain damage, the most important of which are: disability in various areas of body movement, abnormal muscle tone, problems with coordination, balance, sight and hearing. CP is a condition for life, it does not disappear when you come of age. Physical rehabilitation of cerebral palsy patients is a long-term but effective process, thanks to which I am able to walk on crutches although only on a flat surface and at a limited distance. I also use a wheelchair. I need constant physiotherapy. The sessions provided by the Polish National Health Service last a dozen or so days a year, which is insufficient. Right now my biggest problem is progressing spinal curvature, to avoid an operation I need more intense individual work with a physical therapist. It should take at least two hours a day, five days a week, but unfortunately one hour costs 60 Polish zloty.

As a result of kinesiology taping the lower part of my spinal cord has become less painful, I have also achieved better body balance and its stabilization. Kinesiology taping- the application, in a precisely defined way, of a special plaster- is a supplement to other physiotherapeutic methods, but the Polish National Health Service does not pay for the plaster, one roll of which costs 50 Polish zloty and lasts for a month. I want to become self-reliant and I have been trying for many years to make my dream come true. I need intensive specialist physical therapy. Help me by paying for one hour of my treatment.

I need to stay at physical therapy clinics at least twice a year. During these stays I gain abilities that I use in my everyday life. Unfortunately, the price of such a stay is 3500 Polish zloty and the partial government subsidy, I am liable for every three years, is never more than 1000 Polish zloty.

My complicated family situation motivates me to struggle for my self-reliance and independence. The very modest financial means I have will not let let me cover the costs of my physical rehabilitation. Without systematic physio I will lose the abilities acquired with so much effort and the spinal operation can become a necessity-it can ruin my chances for an active life. This is why I am asking for your support.
